was in ladbrokes on camden st the other day, and they had 2 of these machines inside
granted it was only virtual horses or dogs on it, but I had thought that these still aren't legal over here

They are called FOBTs. You don't know what they are if you thought those were FOBTs.

I was being facetious regarding Mr C. Perhaps you should address the point at hand.

They're not legal although there's a few in chippers and the likes around the country that have them anyway.

Anyway, I assume the ones you saw weren't FO (fixed-odds) because they're networked and so the odds fluctuate.

Yeah, you are the lad/lassie who hadn't heard of Barney Curley over on the racing page. Try going racing sometime maybe.

because say you fancy a horse very strongly going to have you maximum bet then you notice a horse gambled from 10s to 2s and you notice he's trained by a b j Curley and you say to yourself who the fcuk is he.
knowledge is power you should know what trainers to respect when the money is down. the like of the easterbys, David Barron, Stewart Williams and Barney Curley are not trainers to be opposing when the moneys down

Lads get back to the OP's point.
The machine's in Ladbrokes are not the same os the FOBT's in the UK.
The ones here are the same as walking up to the counter and having a bet, you put your money in, have a bet exact same as writing it out yourself.
The FOBT's in the UK (which for those that mightn't know stands for Fixed Odds Betting Terminals) are different, you can play roulette, slot machines, dice etc etc.
One big advantange is if you're a "restrained account", you might be able to get on the machine as opposed to going to a teller.
They are basically the same things you see in the arcades over here (oops sorry they aren't allowed have them as they are illegal ).
Lads have them I'd guess so if the law was changed where they would be allowed in bookies, then they would only have to tweak the software to get them up and running here.
If this happens buy the shares in the bookeis as they are money making machines, regulated yes but still money making machines.

can't see them coming in there are too easy to have a bet. nothing stopping you going up 10 times and have a grand on a 10/1 shot. too good to be true. and if there are any in operation can someone please direct me to it

All well and good, but completely irrelevant to the OP's post.

I'd rather be laying the 2/1 shot than backing him!

There's one in the Bishopstown Laddies in Cork if that's any use to you...
