Foley Names His British & Irish Cup Final Side.
    13 May 2010, 4:04 pm
    By The Editor

Anthony Foley makes seven changes, three of those positional, from the side that accounted for Ulster in the semi-final, for Sunday's British & Irish Cup Final against Cornish Pirates at The Recreation Ground in Cambourne.Tom Gleeson, Simon Zebo and Billy Holland, who were involved in the Magners League game that day against Ospreys return to the side while tight head prop Dave Ryan will be on duty in the RDS on Saturday night.
The experienced Holland's inclusion means Tommy O'Donnell moves to his favoured number six berth in place of Eoghan Grace while Dave Kilcoyne comes into the front row for Ryan.

In the backs, Gleeson slots into the outside centre alongside two try scorer from the semi Jeremy Manning with Barnes moving to the right wing, Zebo returns to the left which means Sean Scanlon moves to full-back in place of Mossie Lawlor who is named on the bench.

Cornish Pirates reached the final with victories in the Pool stages over Gael Force (Scotland), Plymouth Albion, Exeter Chiefs and Newport. Their only defeat in that phase came away to Leinster and they recorded a facile 43-5 semi final win over Doncaster Knights in Camborne.

Munster: Sean Scanlon; Danny Barnes, Tom Gleeson, Jeremy Manning, Simon Zebo; Declan Cusack, Duncan Williams; Dave Kilcoyne, Mike Sherry, Stephen Archer; Dave Foley, Ian Nagle; Billy Holland, Tommy O'Donnell, Peter O'Mahony capt.
Replacements: Sean Henry, AN Other, Dave O'Callaghan, Paddy Butler, Conor Murray, Mossie Lawlor, Ronan O'Mahony.

Sky EPG doesn't mention red button via the info. nor does this page: http://www.livesportontv.com/rugby-union/

I've seen this advertised 2/3 times on Sky sports after the Rugby Club and Total Rugby so I'd imagine they'll show it alright.

Looking forward to seeing hiow the Munster backrow get on. They could be starting for the full team en bloc in the not so distant future.

Theres been alot of talk about Munsters academy being behind Leinster but they're getting their act togethar now. Theres loads of talent coming through.

One of the best things about this comp is that it promotes Munster in other parts of the province. They've played games in Clonmel,Nenagh and Waterford. There were over 5,000 at the game in Waterford! Not to be sneezed at.

Mentioned yet again that it was being shown on SkySports in todays Sunday Times preview of the game. Dont blame me if its not but I've seen/heard it advertised on sky/radio/newspapers.

    Quote from todays article:

That the final will be screened on Sky Sports is a bonus, for the B&I Cup has been starved of media covergae in its first year.

Just said on Sky Sports there that it would be on the red button on SS3.

Looks likely that twomint will be streaming it.

Looking forward to this game, be good to get something concrete out of this season.

There should be more games in Waterford next season and other areas far from Thomond and Musgrave park. Connacht and the Scottish teams could only dream of getting 5,000 in the ML.

    Score?

Better team won, but a young Munster team didn't do too bad. The Pirates would have played together all season unlike the Munster team.

When Manning went in 10 they looked a lot better. I thought Zebo was quite poor defensively.

The fullback Scanlon looked good when going forward and Deasy looked strong on the ball. The hooker Sherry also had a good game for Munster.

Great stuff from munster in the end. Never gave up, scoring a try in the last minute. Pirates still win 23 - 14.

Some positives from a munster point of view: Scanlon looked very impressive in attack almost always made yards or always broke the line. Dave Ryan came on and immediately stabilized the scrum, this lad needs to get a lot of first team game time next season. Butler made a positive impact when he was brought on, made the yards that set up the munster Try. Dave O'Callaghan looked good when brought on too.
