How many flights have you taken?

I was just thinking this tonight and wrote down all the times I have flown in my short life and have discovered I have flown 31 different one-way flights. I first flew when I was 5 years of age to London and I remember it being very special and getting colouring books from the air hostesses and nice peanuts and a free drink. We flew first class and for our family of four it cost alot well over a thousand punts!

Since I turned 16 nearly ten years ago I have done the bulk of my travelling and consider myself to be averagely travelled and have a a cousin aged 20 who flew Return to London once in her life and another cousin my own age who has never been on a train in Ireland never mind a plane!

This year is to be my most travelled year since 2008 and I so far have taken 5 single flights and will spend over 48hours flying RTW in July across 8 legs of the journey with the longest being 13hours 30 mins from Sydney to LAX in the A380 Super Jumbo!!

What flight records have you done yourself! I know at 31 flights I have a tiny amount of flying done!

I'm not too fond of travelling by plane.

Every time you fly, you expose yourself to more radiation from the sun, due to less atmosphere protection at altitude.

Brag all you want about the number of flights you have taken, but you are just increasing your susceptibility to getting testicular cancer.

This is by far, the single most retarded thing I have ever heard. Why would you do that? What good can come of it? Is there any good reason for that? Seriously, waste of time and money! You don't even see the places!!!

I have had 4 flights in my life.

The amount is rather negligible tbh, even at the alititude of a cruising 747. You've still another 30/40 miles or so of fairly thick atmosphere above you (not thick enough for humans to breath, obviously).

I've had around 8 flights in my life, unless I'm forgetting some...

16 this year so far. I'm damned if I'm going back and counting them all since my first flight in 1994. Longest flight this year was 16 hours from JFK to Hong Kong - up over the North Pole and down the other side.

Wasn't aware you could fly first class to London.

I am doing it over a whole month but totted up the flying time yesterday and I will spend a grand total of 48 hours and 20 minutes in the air over the month! I intend to do lots and lots of sightseeing and visit friends and relatives!

I use to keep track of flights in the 80ies and 90's because they were such an novelty and so bloody expensive, all this wore off with O'Leary particularly with European flights, I don't even keep track any more as its just like getting on a fuppin bus.

    Sh*tloads I'd say.

My carbon footprint is so big it grew it's own legs and is now walking around by itself.

Yeah if Bus Eireann scanned my iris before they let me on the 17.00 to Athlone it would be.

Can't any more (unless maybe to London City with CityJet) Aer Lingus got rid of 1st class on all their European routes a few years ago in response to cheaper fares from their main competitor Ryanair. I flew 1st class to London in 1992!

I reckon about 150 at this stage. Fly back and forth to home a lot.
Bit nervous about the radiation thing tbh.
I worry about some of my mates. :(

Watching TV exposes you to more radition, as does getting an x-ray. Everyday, through your actions you are increasing your chances of death by leaving the house. What are you going to do? Lock yourself in your bedroom and never leave? F*** that!

The A380 is a nice plane, really is so damn huge, but unless you go first class you are only going to notice a slight difference from the usual economy class flight on other airlines such as british airways or air france.

I have flown in the A380 twice, once to Dubai and once to Korea. For long distances it is definitly nicer than some of the other muck (i'm talking about you KLM). Emirates had a great service, a lot of movies, games, tv shows etc....you could even use your remote to phone any of the seats on the plane and have a chat with other passengers.

I did the Sydney to LAX flight...and I had two americans on either side of me talking across me for about an hour before I had to suggest we swap seats. Idiots!

Also, with an uneven number of flights....logic would suggest you haven't come home yet.....but then there is always the three leg journey.

To answer the OP, I've been to about 16 different countries, some twice or more and had multi-leg journeys...I'd hazard a guess at 40-50 flights.

Very hard to put a figure on it. My dad worked for Aer Lingus so we got free flights all the time. Probably did about 6 to 8 flights a year between holidays and trips to England.

Since being in Australia, if you include getting here, I've flown on 23 flights in the last three years.
