Hi Guys, decided to give my old car a bit of a face lift/ clean up. I sprayed the wall of the tyres with wd40. They look great now all nice and black and new looking...Did I do right or will my tyres blow up with a big bang lol.?

Oils and rubbers are generally not a good mix :p

The fact that WD40 is light and will wash off probably means that little damage will be caused though but I wouldnt recommend doing it often.

There's plenty of products on the market for glossing up tyres, wd40 is not one of them. It shouldn't do any damage to the rubber though, my only concern would be if it were to get on the road contact area of the tyre, otherwise you should be fine. Even products you purchase specifically for tyre cleaning don't recommend you put any on the road contact area.

I wouldn't be inclined to put oil near my tyres/brakes.

Even lidl do tyre shine foam stuff for about 2e and its actually pretty good.
