    hey lads i did it got the gearbox open as my front wired set burnt out replaced it now replaced bushings and shimsall ok but the damn reversal latch thing just keeps popping out and i cant get it closed:rolleyes:

    Put a bit of silicone grease in the hole where it sits and try then.

    thanks lefty i took three large chunks from my finger trying to get it done but got frustrated and just left on my workbench :D

    Stick it in place and then rotate the gears backwards so the latch itself is engaged with the lip of the bevel gear. it'll hold it in place no probs. It doesn't have to sit in perfectly straight either, you can giggery pokery it around from the hole in the other side of the shell as you are lining it up. :)

    thanks lads first time opening gear box not as hard to get the jist of just closing it was like a bad skirmish lots of blood and swearing at the end

    Easier again is to get a small screw driver (like a spectacle screwdriver) and rest it on the reversal latch, with the handle sticking out. Then put the other half of the gearbox on and remove the screwdriver when necessary.
