Hey there again:D, just wondering there if annyone could advice me on how much weight i should place on the front of my Deutz AgroStar 6.08:confused:. Drove one lately with a full rack of weights and it was very comfortable, dont think i need as much weight as that upfront so would like a good compromise between weight for traction and weight for comfort. Was thinking about fabricating a weight box for the front but dont know how much weight to add:confused:. For anyone who is unfamilar with da deutz it would probably be the same weight as most other six cylinder, 4wd, 110hp tractor...... thanks:)

not being smart but it depends what you have behind it?

Depends what your using the tractor for! With condition's (hopefully) drying up the need for them in the dry(ish) months is less Unless your using massive weight on the 3 point linkage. If your using the tractor for road work i would strongly advise against using them as they really help tyre wear increase ten fold.

As a rule they would be off when the ground was dry and on when ground was rutted wet and sloppy they would be on. (haulage work)

Running NH tm155 we had approx 900kg from memory on the front. 20 weights waying 45kg each (full set). But its well over a year since i last looked so i could be way off the mark...

hey there, wouldn't be doing any heavy three point linkage work as such, just spreading fertilizer, some topping and general farm duties. It would mostly be used for road work pulling a trailer and vacuam tank. Its just the front of the tractor seems very light at the moment and is fairly bouncey on the road. Dont want to weigh the tractor down too much as mentioned above it would have a serious affect on the way the front tyres would wear just want to get the balance kinda right to get the best of both worlds for both traction and stability.:)

Well i remember we use to use half set which came in approx 450kg worked well. I no what your saying about the bouncing side of things. Nothing worse more so if your spending the day in it.. Id say 450-500kg would be plenty.

i had a similar experience but it was with our 3085 we gave it to a fella for a service and he took some weights off and said we didnt need all that weight on the diet feeder around the yard we had 5 left out of a case of 10 not to mention the half set looked stupid the whole ride was destroyed it was bouncy taking of on hills in a low gear bouncy on the road 4wd wasnt much use it simply spun when topping i was fed up so put them back on with the last while and its like a different tractor much steadier pulls up hills easier and that just 5 more 45kg weights still ahve to test it on the road and topping

Dont have any deutz weights:o was thinking about fabricating a weight box for the front And either filling it with either old bull nose railway track or concrete. The dimensions of the box would be 350mm(14')deep X 750mm(30') wide X 350mm (14') wide. Must cut a railway track to length and see what it weighs and see how many i can fit in the box. Does anyone know what weight of concrete i would get with a fill of this sized box???

put in the tracks and fill between em with concrete for maximum effect.

hardened concrete is 2.3 tonne per cubic metre .. my brain is closed for business so maybe you could calculate from that.. dunno

Fabricated a weightbox yesterday:D seems to be working very well for da moment;) Made the box out of 350mm X 10mm flat and filled it with approx 3m of railway track. Between the weight of the box approx 90kg and the weight of the track???? 120kg:confused: the tractor seems to be alot sturdyer on the road and in the field. There is still enough way to put as much weight in again if needed. Altogether im happy with the job have my weight made for approx 70-80euro and it looks fairly well too:p. Dont think this kind of money would buy many Deutz weights:D Thanks for all the advice
