I'm in the club but I know nothing about this and won't be doing it because of exams but I would say just give one of the two lads a ring or send an email. Also, there is a LCC forum which you may want to use but ideally the details should be on the website! Let me know if you have any problems ;)

EDIT: Or else leave a comment below the post on the website. The lads who run the website are pretty active and you should get a response quick enough! Best of luck :)

2 options this year, 180km and 120km, from what i heard its a very well run event and well worth doing

I cycled this event for a couple of years.

It's a tasty enough route especially the climb back across the mountains up to Rearcross because you'll have had plenty of miles in your legs by that stage.

The organisation of the event was ok : in them days we started/finished at UL.

I did it the last couple of years. Did the full 180km last year and had forgotten that it was that long. Brain trying to forget the experience, I guess.

Last year weather was stunning - route is very lumpy especially in the, last third where you are hurting but most of all the pace was manic. Appeals to hold the pace after the first stop last about the distance it takes to click in two cleats!

I would say it is reasonably well organised - its a serious tour with few stops and a long day (I think I went over 7 hrs last yr.) so plan accordingly.

Oh yeah the scenary is stunning if you can lift your head to look.:)

Thanks for the replies. Going to do the athlone cc spin in mid may and the limerick one the week after.

@boege, thats scaring me.....did my first spin over 60k in a year yesterday and the thought of chasing a group for 180k through limerick frightens me.

Hope to see some of you at one of the 2 spins

Great tour yesterday, weather was good, its scenic and the organisation is very impressive. Roads are officially open but they effectively they did rolling closures and it was great to see this in action.

High recommended and well worth travelling to:
