I was just wondering what the best scrappage deals are around, parents thinking of scrapping 2000 BMW 318 thats seen better days against a corsa/astra size car, not specifically Opel but those sizes of cars. Anyone any first hand experience or links to great deals?

For instance renault have goverment scrappage, dealer scrappage and trade in allowances knocking 5 grand off a clio, the BMW is worth 2 at most.

Any other good deals out there? Also if anyone wants to recommend cars that they should look at it would be very welcome

Is there any single website that has every scrappage deal currently available

That Ibiza is suddenly really good value, they may actually sell a few if they would let people know...

I have an 03 D Rav 4 that I need to offload. I've advertised it on carzone but nothing since.

It is probably worth about 8K, maybe a bit less. To be honest I will take nearest offer on it. Anyone know of a site where u can advertise bargains like this?. i.e. I will sell it for a fair price as I need to offload it.

Have you tried donedeal.ie, carzone is increasingly useless at selling cars!

How much do u think someone might pay for it then?. Only 35K miles on clock, genuine.

    Is this it here.....

I think you're up against it really. Least popular body type with the worst possible engine for resale, the 2.0 litre petrol will make it very hard to shift. You probably wont want to hear this but if you want rid of this quickly then €4500 is the price of it. Some cars no matter how cheap are just bad sellers and in the times we are in , yours is one of those cars.

As Saab Ed says a 3rd 2.0 Rav is undesirable. even a 5dr 2.0 is a hard sell. the 1.8 2WD Luna 5 door is the one that sells

Yep that's the one.... Thanks v much for the advice. Like I said I just need to offload it (I'm emigrating). Yeah, 4500 is quite a bit less than what I was hoping for but having said that F it, market dictates. Is there anyway I can auction it online say?.

It might sound like I'll take anything, I won't. I'll give it to my sister for nothing rather than sell it below what is fair.

    Again thanks Saab Ed.

Isuzu D-Max 7.5k you need an isuzu trooper 3.0 to scrap but they cna be got for 1.5-2k at the moment, so in reality 5k scrappage , leaving the car costing 21k in the end

    Hi folks,

I'm looking to scrap my 99 seat ibiza probably for the one mentioned above, the 1.2 Ibiza, Sports Coupe. The scrappage deal offers it for e9800 or so. Jus looking for your opinon on how to go about buying this car since i'm a novice to say the least!

Do you think it would be possible to haggle on this price, given they are offering the scrappage deal on it? If so, how much could I look to get off it?

Second question, if i look to get additional option such as sun roof, and choice of car colour, i suspect these prices can also be haggled? I don't really undersstand why some colours cost so much more!

Any advice on these would be greatly appreciated given your superiour knowledge!
    Thanks.

SEAT really are pushing the limits of wordplay. It's not a coupe, it's not a sports anything, its a 1.2 3 door hatchback FFS!

is the 3 door megane not marketed as a coupe ?

Yep, indeed they do - Distinctive, different, exhilarating - there is no doubt that the Mégane Coupé comes with the WOW factor. It has road presence that other cars can only dream of. The serodynamic lines of it's sporty design make it cry out to be driven

Serodynamic, tut tut, if Bill was still involved he'd have noticed that.

Stevie, I am aware of the lack of sport coupe-ness abot the car but its within my budget so any advice on the questions I asked would be great, thanks!:)

    OK splash, just messing around.

Yes, there is always room to haggle on top of the advertised discount, even with scrappage. How much is down to how hard you push, and contact a few dealers while you are at it.

The 1.2 is an old engine, it buzzes away and makes a bit of a racket. There are better engines out there.

If you want a sunroof and certain colour you are looking at a factory order, and yes, get the final full price with extras and haggle from there.

The Ibiza is a nice car, the only thing that would really put me off is that engine and the fact that you only get a 2 year warranty.

The 1.2 engine was a completely new design from the ground up less than 10 years ago, which makes it very new mechanically compared to most of its competitors. The highly regarded 1.25 zetec in from the Fiesta is not far off twice as old for example. It's not noisey and harsh because it's old, it's like that because refinement was not a top priority, which would have been cost and economy, hence the 3 cylinder.

    Thanks Stevie!

So say €9815 scrappage price, delivery and related charges maybe €500 (?) and my choice of metallic paint colour maybe €500 (?). No other extras required! That means I'd be lookin at a cost of around €10,800.

Anyone have an idea what the invoice price of these cars are (so I'll come across as knowing my stuff when negotiating!) ? Any insider information any of you may have will be greatly appreciated again! :P I've tried a web search for it but couldn't find much!

As a matter of interest, how did you get on? Ibiza SC is contender for my money in the next couple of months... did you buy it?

    Hi Cionád,

After much research of ringing practically every Seat garage in the south and east of the country, I discovered the Ibiza SC is an in-demand car so the only options really available were standard SC's with limited colour options (I wanted galia blue), and no extras. :(

I ended up buying a 5-door Ibiza, 1.2litre (better selling-on price later than the SC which is basically the same car only 3-dr). The 5-door I got was also one of the 'limited edition' ones with ~€1500 of extras as standard. These included alloy wheels, corner-functioning front fogs, heated mirrors, cruise control. Decided on the standard Seat Red colour..very shiny..decided against the more expensive colour options cos the red looked super shiny and stood out from the other colours in the garage!:D

It is very spacious inside, plenty of room front and back, large boot also! Very fancy looking on the inside, has a USB port for mp3 player too! Outside is sleek..also has a bit of a sporty look to it! Cheap enough to run..tax is €156, takes about €45-50 to fill the tank and full tank lasts me around 600km!

Overall, I think I got a very good deal.. including the scrappage in my 99 ibiza, I paid €11000 for it! Love driving the car..very quiet on the road, I'd drive it all day if I could! If you want any more info on the 5-dr, I'll try be of help!

Oh and a former lamborghini designer designed it if that helps! :)

Why former? Maybe he was rubbish? :D

I am going to change in the new year, am looking forward to seeing what offers are put out there. Will be trading in a 00 Leon with low milage, which honestly deserves a good home, never let me down and has all electrics...

The wife's interested in a new fiat 500 and she has a car eligible for scrappage.

We went to have a look at 1 last week. She liked the way it looked and drove (I didn't drive it). I was particularly impressed with the 5* ncap safety rating and the dealer tells us it will get the new 6* rating which is due to be introduced by Ncap next year. Can anyone in the know confirm this?

According to the fiat website price (with scrappage & discount) of the 1.2 Pop (base model) is €9,995 & lounge / sport is €11,995; both ex delivery and related charges. What would a good deal on these be including metallic paint (€300 per fiat website) and possibly ESP (€450 per fiat website)?

Also any alternatives to consider; would have to have the 5* safety.

    Thanks.
