Ryanair checkin/sports luggage question

Ok, I'm flying home tomorrow with Ryanair from Malaga (assuming the ash doesn't get in the way again) and flying back on Monday. I want to bring a bike back from Dublin. If I go to the manage my booking section, it only allows me to book the bike both ways (€80 instead of €40). I thought maybe I could check in one way, then add the bike over the weekend and check in separately for the way back. But when I go to check in, it automatically starts the checkin process for both ways.
Any suggestions how I can get around this? Ryanair always talk about how each flight they sell is separate, and that I'm actually paying two one ways as opposed to a return. So surely I should be able to do this.

Ok, I've just seen this, so hopefully can just add to the booking on Sunday.....
"Up to 4 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure you can purchase online - checked bags, priority boarding, sports/infant equipment and musical instruments even if you have already checked in online for your flight"

Ok, so (forgetting the whole ash problem, as that's another issue), I'm here in Dublin, having already flown one leg of the journey, but when I try to add a bike online, it still asks me for €80 instead of €40. Any advice on how to get around this? Apparently it will cost €50 at the airport, which is better than €80, but am worried about leaving it to the last minute. I'll ring the agents tomorrow I think, but don't want to ring the priority number.
