    hi all,
wanna get a mate an iphone for her b'day, shes on O2 but they say shes not entitled to an upgrade till next year. So im gonna have to buy a prepay one... but o2 are asking for 520euro for the 16g version. Is there anywhere that i could get one where its cheaper than this and can still be used by her as a bill pay customer on o2. Her b'day is in 2 weeks
    THanks

You can have a look on ebay and adverts.ie and the like for one, but you generally won't get them any cheaper than €300. If it is cheaper than that, be very suspicious - it's likely to be a 2G or 3G, or worst of all a cheap knockoff that's not a real iPhone at all.

If you go down this route, the phone must be unlocked or locked to O2.

The risk you run is that O2 are known for changing the contracts of people who buy iPhones. So if she's paying €30/month, O2 will likely bump her onto the €40/month package for iPhones.

you could ring o2 and tell them that you are going to leave unless the give you your upgrade now.
