    Hi all,
I have bought a few books on developing iPhone apps but never realised I had to have a Mac to actually develop them

Anyone with some experience tell me whats the cheapest set up I can buy in order to start developing?

    Thanks,
    FG

Cheapest setup is the cheapest Mac you can buy. You can also try using VM Ware. I've got a Snow Leopard installl which runs on my PC through VM Ware. It's not very very stable, but it only crashes about 5% of the time.

Thread moved to Mac forum and cleaned to meet forums rules (for the posters benefit) and remove tired boringness (for mine and everyone elses).

Only 5% of the time? I am sold:rolleyes:

OP, your cheapest Mac solution is a Mac Mini though you will need monitor, mouse and keyboard with it. TBH a few € more and you will stretch to an entry level laptop or iMac; the extra lifespan on what would be slightly better specced machine than a Mini would be another reason to go a bit bigger but a Mini will be good regardless.

My opinion is a valid and relevant one, Apple have added nothing to the computing world except restrictions and closed minds, which is so apt given the attitude around here.

OP your best bet is to run OSX in a virtual machine

Some people actually give a shyt about form over function.
And by Jaysus, do Apple have form.
    Sweet.

If you honestly believe apple have added nothing to the computing world except restrictions and closed minds, I think you need to open your mind.

OP your worst possible bet is to run OSX in a virtual machine. If you want to run Mac OS without it being ****, you'll have to do it on a Mac.

Refurb or used mac mini is probably your best bet if you are looking for the cheapest possible solution.

Be careful though - you need the cheapest INTEL Mac you can buy. If you want a desktop - look for an intel mac mini.
