can anyone tell me if you are entitled to a free prostate scan once a year whether on your stamps or ins if you have it or do you have to go through the long drawn out process with a doctor

Prostate screening does not require a scan, it is a simple blood test (PSA) and possible a digital rectal exam (DRE) both of which can be done by your GP. The GP visit is free if you have a medical card otherwise it will cost you €40-60. Sometimes you see those trailers at shopping centres that offer screening. I think it is better to go to your GP because it's not just the absolute value of the PSA that is important but how it changes over time and your GP will be able to keep a record of your results.
