One bit of advice - don't put all the eggs in one basket.

I've never heard of 'acorn' before, just had a quick look at their website, seem like a fairly new crowd. Irish Asset Management doesn't have much of a track record, everybody though they were the biz during the boom, but alot of people got burnt.

If you have any reservations about investments, just hold off, what's the rush?

Educate yourself so that you have a solid understanding of what you're getting into. A fairly basic reading level in Finance/Investments and you'll come across the importance of Diversification - spread your risk around.

Don't put all your acorns in the 1 basket!!

Acorn Life have been around a long time.

I agree with Bongos. Diversification is key. And that also means not investing all of your money with Acorn. Look at a few different fund managers.

Secondly, look at your fees. Find out all the fees involved (entry fees, exit fees, management fees, performance fees). These can absolutely wreck your returns if they are too high.

    Make sure you know:
    1) Your goals. How much money will I need and when will I need it?
    2) Your risk tolerance? Could you stomach a 5% drop in your portfolio? A 10% drop?
    3) Make sure you know what your buying. Make sure you know the underlying investment strategy. Read the prospectus well! Not all investments will suit you.

Hi everyone I've been offered a job with acorn life , I don't know a lot about them. What are like to work for offering me €300 PW for the training period , I've also been told that would provide me with QFA training worried about taking a chance without knowing a bit more ??? . Would greatly appreciate and advise

Just be sure of the cost of the fund. Unit linked funds tend to be more expensive. One of the most valuable things I have learned about investing in funds is be very clear about the fees/costs. You don't know how a fund is going to perform next year but you should know exactly what its going to cost you!

Is this the same co that was in Clondalkin near Newslands Cross? My lasting impression was of Glengarry Glenross.
