Holy god, am I the only person to have taken an instant dislike to the new Active on Sky News? 4 screens instead of 8, no full screen, news headlines always on screen. It's horrific.

Agree totally, it's terrible, it's look a glorified teletext.

Great thing is that the text appears MUCH MUCH MUCH quicker, before i would have had to wait 10 - 15 seconds between moving between News, Money and sport. Now its instant!

I for one prefer it! Id say they dropped the screens to replace it with fast info. Much better IMO!

Totally disagree, if I want to read text news, I go on the internet. I used Sky Active to get recaps of news via pictures. Now I have less choice and no full screen.

I'm always surprised by people who still use teletext, surely internet is replacing it. Ads on radio for RTE Aertel also surprise me as they are saying that Aertel service is now on internet, why would you use that?

Same goes for the videos. Video is available for most stories on the sky news website so why not use that instead. TBH most of the time only 2 or 3 of the mini screens contained proper stuff. If they control what they put on the 4 mini screens a little better they may be able to utilise the whole system much more efficiently.

If I am lying down on a couch and want to check sports results or news headlines during an ad break, teletext can come in very handy.

Well I have an iPhone for that. Very handy!;)

I miss the fullscreen. I always flick on to fullscreen in active when there's a space shuttle launch because it carries the NASA TV feed and hasn't got Kay Burley talking rubbish all over it.

Yeah, gotta agree, someone dropped the ball BIGTIME on this one. It's a disaster. No fullscreen anymore and those damn text headlines constantly displayed which i will NEVER read. I really am astonished that they seem to be taking a backwards step in using the text:confused:. Maybe they are trying to save bandwidth:rolleyes: They took off the showbiz screen which was handy for no-brainer headlines and light-hearted fluff. Such a waste to have weather occupying one screen when there are only 4 now. I will still use the service but a LOT less now, even the wife thinks the change is sh1te:P

Id say weather is probably the most popular screen!!!

It's a regression - it had only four screens years ago and they've gone back to it.
Odd considering how Sky are constantly urging their customers to "upgrade" to the latest fad.

No dude you are not it's sh1te. Tried several times to find email address to contact them and was faced with the usual bollox, routed to forums and online survey etc. There was nothing wrong with the original service so why they had to change is beyond me.
