Solar Hot Water - additional cylinder or replace cylinder?

For a solar hot water system, can the existing hot cylinder be replaced by a new solar cylider. This new cylinder would have:
    • 2 immersion elements for electrical water heating.
    • A coil from the central heating system for oil based water heating.
    • A coil from the solar collector for solar base water heating.
Or.. does the solar cylinder have to be seperate from the existing cylinder and linked to it in some way?

Have been looking at this site.
    Thanks v.much for any replies.

You can do both. It depends on the thermal energy demand of the building and it's occupiers and on the thermal energy sources.
And, most of all, on the valet and the competent service.
It is not unusual to have several thermal storage tanks in one system.

most common way its done would to just to replace your existing cylinder with another cylinder with a second coil below the heating coil .
