    Hi All,

Looking for decent doctor in D.6 or city centre. Sick of grumpy doctors, so looking for a good doc, who is inclined towards alternative remedies.

    Anyone know of anyone?

    Thanks!

you'll be very hard pushed to find a doctor into alternative therapies, it's not really their kind of style... you could try the holistic centre in town, i think it's on south william...

i have gone to a lovely doctor on beechwood avenue, i think her name is rita...

it's getting more common, the crossover btw 'normal' GP who doesn't baulk at alternative therapies. I did find one in Ranelagh, but he's quite dismissive, and I'm just not really in the humour for it - especially at €50-60 a pop!

Any ideas what Rita's surname is? or the surgery name? I'll definitely have a look at the holistic centre... i'd just love a balance btw the 2 (just moved home after 6 yrs in London, and the 2 best GPs I came across both practised alternative methods)

    thanks a mil

What do you mean by alternative remedies?

She's Rita Brennan on Beechwood Ave. She's really nice too. Don't think she's into alternative remedies though but she listens and isn't at all grumpy!

Everything from massage and aromatherapy to hocus pocus.

A balanced view is "complimentary medicine" - accepting that there is some good from both sides of the fence.

Its hard to decipher from her post whether he/she is looking for a doctor that also offers services with scientific merit ( acupuncture ) or if he/she is looking for a quack ( homeopathetic, faith healer ).
I think a little more info is needed.

Wow, I love the dismissive remarks you get on this board - I've seen it quite a bit on here... but whatever makes you feel bigger!

Just wanted to know if anyone can recommend someone... complimentary medicine is probably the best phrase.

As I said in my reply to tfak85, I have come across GPs who practise complimentary medicine alongside normal GP practise. THis would be my ideal scenario.

Victor/ Mardybumbum, do either of you actually know of anyone?

My comment was hardly dismissive. I wanted to clarify what you were looking for. Alternative remedies, to me, is a very vague term.
There are a number of homeopaths/chiropractors in the south of the city that I know of.
Can't say that I know of a doctor that specialises in either of these fortunately enough.
    Sorry.

you might try nelsons homeopathic pharmacy on duke street.. they might have names of people that offer a combination of both holistic and traditional therapies.
