like the title says, I have just booked my 1st driving lesson.
Having never ever driven before I'm wondering what to expect?
I am totally clueless, I assume the 1st lesson will mostly involve getting familiar with the car and very little driving? I'm a bit nervous as I'm in a very built up and busy area so the thoughts of cutting out/losing control and holding people up aren't helping.

You will learn the basics, clutch control, braking, changing gears, steering.
you will probably be brought to a quite area to practice.

you will be driving just probably very little on the road.

-you will cut out most likely - its not a big deal, happens to experienced drivers occasionally as well.

-Who cares if your holding people up, its not the end of the world, you have L plates all over the car so they should expect it.

you wont lose control, you instructor will most likely have duel controls and you will be taught the correct and safe methods for driving before your on the road.

Enjoy it, its not gonna be bad as you think,In fact driving can be fun.

All of what Hobochris said & the other thing, make sure your comfortable & relaxed in the car with your instructor, if your not happy with him or her, get recommendations on one & book asap & don't be put off by the one you had for your first lesson.

I remember mine-could barely lift the clutch in fear, but seriously it goes away and eventually driving becomes one of the most liberating things you can do! Good luck!

It went really well today, was zooming around in no time :D
Only cut out a couple of times (damn clutch) but didn't bunny-hop it at all so I was well pleased with myself. Can't wait for my next lesson now!
