So I came across this article in the Irish Times http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/commercialproperty/2010/0512/1224270192863.html

Forever 21 to open in Ireland, just wondering what any of your thoughts are on this?

I'm excited I've been to Forever 21 in America but not any of the stores in Europe. I think it's the kind of shop that is a bit hit and miss so it will be pretty interesting to see what the store in Dublin is like. I think I'll definately have a browse when it opens up.

I'm pretty excited about this too! I love Forever 21 for picking up little bits - great accessories and bags. Most of the clothes dont look great on me...

Its a major coup for Dublin as its the first store in Europe. They plan on opening more in late Autumn in other locations like London and Germany.

I STILL have clothes form Forever 21 I bought in San Fran in 2005..eek! And the quality is grand too! I'm happy with the idea!

Oh wow that is so exciting!! :)Spent loads of time browsing in their stores during the Summer in California! Great for cheap accessores, tops etc and different pieces. I hope they will be as cheap as they are in America cos most stores up their prices for Irish consumers which is so unfair! :(

I would be so disappointed if Forever 21 came to Ireland! I love the shop and I love the fact that it is only in Canada and America. Shopping abroad is not exciting anymore as everywhere has the same shops.
Also they will probably bum up the prices in Ireland and EVERYONE will ahve the same clothes it will be another penneys!

I'm excited! I've looked at their website a few times and their stuff seems really cute :D

I just hope that their prices stay low, they seem really decent online!

What's happening to the New Look we were meant to get in Town though?

Hmm... good? I'll have to wait and see! Bought a few things in it when I was in NY last summer.

Well I guess there is the possibility that they're actually going split the old debenhams store in half? So that the top floor is no longer part of the same unit.... No sure if the top floor would be big enough for either of those stores though.

Edit: Just noticed this part of the article
The owners of the Jervis centre are in line to receive a substantial increase in their rental income when the remaining part of the former Arnotts Project store is relet in the coming weeks.
Maybe it is being split then....

    I think you're thinking of century 21.

    That place is mingin!

Noooo I wish it wouldn't open here! Like somebody else said it'll just be another Penneys, a more expensive Penneys though. I love Forever 21 when I'm in America, you can get really different stuff at a really good price. It won't be the same when it's here!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 193 ✭✭Regina Phalange

    I've mixed feelings about this!

I love Forever21! (especially the one in NY) I love that people ask 'where'd you get that' and I get to smuggly say 'America' Teee heee heee I'm evil

    BUT

I would like to be able to get the stuff here, its cheap and cute and usually on trend. I just wonder what the prices will be like!

It gets thumbs up from me! Surprised there aren't any in London! (or is there?)

wouldn't really have though of it as new looky but yeh more that kind of shop than tkmaxx.

Century 21 smells of and old persons house.

Just thought I'd add how much I wish Sephora would come here - it's my favourite shop in the world - and there's none in Ireland :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,180 ✭✭✭tomissex

I think it's gonna be relatively cheap still cause the article mentions its competition as being H+M, Zara etc; no mention of the more expensive Topshop/Miss Selfridge in the list of similar stores already in Jervis.
I'm really excited about it! I've never been outside Europe so I've only ever seen the website and I really like the clothes etc!

    Deffo love a Sephora!

A Sephora would not be good for my bank account! :/ The amount of money I spent in there in NY. I'd still love one over here though!

I think it would be great, It's always good to have different options when

Very excited! There were articles before saying that New Look and Tk Maxx were going to move in there and that Forever 21 were considering a lcoation somewhere in town. So didn't expect them to get it! New Look needs a lcoation in town though..they should take Dunnes Ilac ahead of Tk Maxx since there's already one in town. Dunnes Grafton Street is the only other 'biggish' vacant shop..

I Love Forever 21. have only been to the US once but even buying the stuff online is really cheap! OMG im so excited! Whens it due?

    Meh, never liked the place.

I have to agree, I'm not mad about the place. I think there are already better shops at that range available in Dublin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,883 ✭✭✭shellyboo

Good news as long as they bring their plus-size range too!

it's still a win win situation even if you don't like their clothes; more competition means (hopefully) better prices in other stores.

Whats wrong with all these ppl? Its a clothes shop, every clothes shop will have some stuff you like, and some you wont! But its def more choice! Im so excited! Ive only been to the San francisco shop but have bought loads from ther website! All kinds of everything on there! Happy days! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Gauge

I want it to open purely so I can pretend it's 2005 and I'm on my J1 in San Francisco again!!

I'm interested in seeing what it's like. I remember some stuff being a bit trashy but they were great for accessories.

I'm annoyed that New Look won't be opening in there, its a total pain that there is none in Dublin city centre.

I'm hoping that New Look will take over the old Dunnes spot in the Ilac now, that would be a very good location for it because it's nice and big :D

why have i never heard of this shop

About bloody time I say! And as we are on the topic of stores.....when is Dublin going to get a decent New Look in the city centre????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭fillefatale

Never been but see loads of the clothes on US fashion blogs. Pity its coming just as I finish my student life in Dublin >:(

    when is opening?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 xXbusybeeXx

I am so excited about forever 21 coming to Dublin!!

People do not fret New Look is opening in the Jervis as well! they are splitting that arnotts project location in 2. New look are taking ground floor and basement space and Forever 21 will take the top 2 floors!

Sorry to dig up an old thread but does any1 know when these stores are opening?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 525 ✭✭✭ya-what-now?

Well I saw signs up recently in that arnotts spot in Jervis saying that New Look is opening there soon so wonder is Forever 21 opening upstairs or something!? That'd be a bit odd as they're really similar shops!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,305 ✭✭✭Chuchoter

Sounds great, nice to have a few american shops over here (that aren't american apparel blech)
I'd rather have some French stuff like cache cache or something though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

I seem to recall a newspaper article saying Forever 21 would be opening in November...

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/commercialproperty/2010/0512/1224270192863.html

    Aha! 'Autumn'...

So expect it in February 2013 :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,264 ✭✭✭Cookie Jar

Yeah I heard November too. I'm pretty sure the New Look and Forever 21 will just be on the two floors?

I'd say it's a floor each too, those spaces are massive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,103 ✭✭✭misslt

I heard October by a girl working in New Look in Blanch!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 902 ✭✭✭lainey316

Both stores could easily fill the whole property themselves, it's strange - I guess New Look will also have the basement. There's a Forever 21 in Singapore that is over 4 or 5 floors, and they rotate the stock really often, no problem filling the space.

I've pretty much given up on New Look clothes - I'm too old, and a lot of them are too cheap looking/badly finished and Forever 21 can be the same. That said I did get a few great bits there. I will be prowling it weekly for those kinds of gems, because they are worth the time. I hope the pricing isn't massively inflated for the Irish market!

Oh how exciting. I was in one of their stores in Florida at Christmas, picked up some nice skirts and tops.

Just looked online at the stuff, looks like a hybrid of urban outfitters/h&m and has good prices. Bring it on I say!!
