Thinking of going with my girlfriend in June somewhere. Looking for somewhere fairly quiet that we can just relax without having to navigate around drunken Irish/Englishn every night and from what I've read so far Corralejo seems to be a quiet enough area.

Anyone ever been here that they could give me advice on whether it's good/bad?

I spent a week there with my wife about 4 years ago, and would recommend it for what you're after.

It's a quiet seaside town, not overrun with tourists either. Most tourists there are families, we saw very few drunken louts the whole time we were there. We stayed at some apartments right near the centre, 3 minutes' walk from the bus station. There are lots of tourist apartments in the 'suburbs' but these would be a bit of a hike / bus journey so worth looking for something near the town centre.

The town not 100% tourist oriented which we liked. There are plenty of the usual touristy shops along the main strip there are also some more 'local' areas with normal bars, cheap but good restaurants and corner shops.

There's a nice promenade walk along the coast with some good restaurants, also a couple of Irish bars in the town centre if you're into that(didn't visit). We found a nice cocktail bar just off the main square, good place to chill out so spent a few evenings there.

There are 2 small beaches right in the town, neither were packed when we were there (Sept/Oct). The dunes are about a 40 minute walk along the coast (or 5 minutes by bus), well worth a visit - over 10km of clean white sand beach and dunes, water is clean and warm. Lots of German naturists the further you go from the bus stop / hotel!

The island itself is not great for scenery, very dry and no trees. We took a day trip to Lanzarote, worth a visit for some fantastic volcanic landscapes.

Ok hope this helps, if you want any more specific info let me know and I'll dig out the names of restaurants, apartments, etc.

Corralejo is 80% Irish and British holidaymakers and is geared for that market. I've stayed there twice and it's pretty much as described by FergusF. My next visit though will be to the south where the beaches and facilities are better. The south of the island is 80% German/Dutch visitors.

I would recommend hiring a car and this company are the best in terms of price, quality of cars and after sales service.

They have branches in all the Canary Isles and I've used them many times without any problems.

Don't knock the naturists until you try it. There is nothing like swimming in the raw.

Corralejo is by far my favourite resort in the canaries. Perfect description above. I remember the last time I arrived -have been about 6 times and going again in about three weeks- a group of young people arrived at the same time. The look of horror and disappointment on their faces summed it up. This is not the place for a drink filled holiday. There is only one (small) commercial centre typical of other resorts, which is easily avoided. What i like is that the pubs are proper pubs, none of your disco bars offering free shots to get you in the door. And a really good variety of restaurants. Try Imagine if you like live music. A really good bar. The have a a website if you google it.

Agree, I tried it for the first time there, a great feeling and addictive once you've taken the plunge so to speak :-)

    Hi there,

I am thinking fof going here for a week after Christmas. We have young kids and are looking for a suitable hotel. Can anyone recommend a good family orientated hotel?
