Been there 5 times, and don't think I'd go again. Nothing wrong with it, just there are many nicer places in the Canaries. Pubs/restaurants/nightclubs etc are in one main commercial centre with another smaller centre 5 minutes in a taxi away.

The place is haunted with Timeshare touts some of whom are very nice but others will verbally abuse you all the way down the street if you don't want to go to see the local timeshare - Anfi del Mar - There are touts on most bars and restaurants who are persistant but not as rude, but to be fair most resorts in the Canaries and further afield have these type of touts.

If you want to go to GC and want somewhere a bit quieter and definitely classier, try Puerto Mogan, it's just down the road from Puerto Rico but worlds away in surroundings.

This forum is mostly dedicated to Puerto Rico, people on here go nowhere else and will give you tips and directions. Some of the contributors live there full time. Have a look and see anyway

yes i second Puerto de Mogan, nicer town

the journey from puerto rico to mogan is pretty spectacular, all along the cliffs overlooking the atlantic down below and then down into puerto de mogan itself

the best beach in gran canaria is in maspalomas though
