    Hello folks,

I have a couple of stands of yellow flag iris that I want rid of this year. I've no machinery, and anyway the land is too rough to use any. So solutions will come from a backpack sprayer or other, have to be manual work.

What's the best way to knock the snot out of them? And what's the best time of year to do so please?

    ATB,

    John

    Bump!

Would really like to get these off the farm next year guys. I've added a hand held weedlicker to the arsenal as well. Advice appreciated :)

cut them with a mower and spray them with 2-4d when they start to regrow.
its too late now for this year but hit them next year , you may have to repeat the job a few times to eliminate them.

    Not hard to eradicate
A run with quad and weed wiper using 10% in water solution of 50%mcpa and a sticking agent will kill them if repeated 3 times starting in April/May when young and soft
Spraying is not as effective as the flagger has a tough waxy coating that the spray runs off
    Thats my experience

Will washing up liquid do as a sticking agent? That's usually what I throw in the spray, not sure how it'd work with the wiper.
