    Link

First of all he includes Terry in his starting XI, highly debatable but then goes on to give honourable mentions to Steven Gerrard and "Blackburn keeper Brad Friedel"

Does this man deserve to be paid to comment on football?

You did read his team of the season to be fair, and linked it so that others would.... so... yeah!

Actually robbed this debate from another Forum. But that still applies so my argument is meaningless.

But still, you know what I mean.

Chelsea won the league in spite of Terry.
His two yellows agianst Spurs were completely daft and unprofessional, at a time when Chelsea needed professionalism especially from their captain.
The man didn't have a huge amount of talent to begin with, he's always been a thug on the pitch and a nasty character off of it (not to say that I care what he does outside football tbh), but now he's slowing down, making silly mistakes, losing any sense of judgement.
Chelsea should have taken the money from City last summer, they probably would have won the league by a good few more poiints without "Mr Chelsea".

So Garth Crooks was wrong to put him in his team of the season, but Garth Crooks isn't somebody who's opinion I'd pay any attention to anyhow.

    Glazers Out!

John Terry wouldn't be very far down my list for centreback but I wouldn't have picked him myself.
He would certainly be ahaed of Vermaelan though who was picked in the team of the year by a lot of people. Vermaelan is good going foward but he is not a very good defender.

He did well if you like seeing lots of goals, he scored plenty and he aided the opposition to score too with some atrocious defending.

This actually isn't true, well, imo it isn't true. His positioning could be better but lets not forget Arsenal's 4-3-3 often turns into a 2-3-5 when they are attacking. The CBs were left ridiculously isolated at times and this has amplified any defensive errors made by the back four imo as there is massive amount of space between the fullbacks and CBs. Vermaelen attacks the ball, that's his job not a weakness tbh. Ordinarily you'd expect Song or Clichy to cover but they are often frequently too high up the pitch to do so.

He is the most overrated defender in years in the Premier League.
