if you are trying to get photos off the iphones camera roll? my bro had a problem for ages witht this. he called apple support and was told that iphoto doesnt like syncing when it has too many screen grabs or photos saved from emails in the camera roll. He emailed these photos to himself then deleted them and voila... synced perfect.
If its the other way around ... itunes > iphone i cant helps ya! sorry
