Its only in recent years that i've discovered Joy Division and my god! what an amazing band they were.

Bearing in mind that these were a bunch of ordinary guys in their early 20s the music they created was astonishing, although alot of credit must go to Martin Hannett their producer who helped shape their unique sound.

For those of you not familiar with this track> 24hrs I urge you to listen to it and read the lyrics as well cause they are mesmerising.

Ah Joy Division will always be up there with my favorite bands. Despite their relatively short career they still inspire so many today. And Control is top notch, if anyone isn't familiar with JD music it's a great introduction. Might re-watch it tomorrow actually! :D

Adore them and just keep liking them more and more. When I was younger it was New Order I preferred slightly - now it's the opposite.
    Unbelievable he wasn't even 24...

Durutti Columns tribute - Missing Boy,very fitting

    There was a boy
    I almost knew him
    A glance exchanged
    Made me feel good
    Leaving some signs
    Now a legend
    The dream was wrought
    Where thoughts were heard
    Love is reserved
    From previous times

"Mother I tried please believe me,
I'm doing the best that I can.
I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through,
I'm ashamed of the person I am.

    Isolation, isolation, isolation"

(one of the very first electro-pop songs)

For a band that was around a really short space of time, the amount of bands they influenced is astounding. Read his book, "Touching From a Distance", bought the 24 hour Party People, Control, and Joy Division DVDs, cant get enough of this band, love New Order too, but JD were the real deal. RIP Ian Curtis 30 years on.

Dance dance dance to the radio.
