I just bought a liteon IHOS 104-37 blu-ray drive for my XP desktop.
It will read and play dvds fine, but it will not even read blu-ray discs.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

As far as I remember I think there are issues with XP and HDCP ( high bandwidth content protection) and UDF 2.01 (universal disk format).

XP is ten years old and blu-ray wasn't around then, but I'm sure they have come up with workarounds.

SEE here, http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-145450.html, i think you,d need to buy special software to play a blueray disk on winxp.
    see here http://www.amazon.com/Corel-WinDVD-9-Plus-Blu-ray/dp/B0015RTDI2
, i think you need a hdcp compatible grahics card and hdcp compatible monitor , if hdcp is turned on on the disk,or else it,ll just play the
film in 720p which rather defeats the purpose of buying a blueray film .
    TRY vlc media player .
or google free blueray player software windows xp.
you might need a driver from the liteon website.WINXP has a generic dvd driver built in.
