We have the exact same TV, I started messing about with the settings yesterday and managed to pick up UK freeview channels on very poor aerial/cabling. I live in Cavan so obviously getting the NI digital.

The Irish DTT is also being picked up, but only sound no picture as its mpeg2.
BTW, if you try tuning the TV, make sure the region is set to UK. Ours was set to Ireland and no digital tuning was available.

    Ask here .

But afaik, the 5404 is mpeg2 only and the 5604 is mpeg 4 or irish and UK compatible.

You may be able to buy a cam-conditional access module for it and receive irish dtt then..
Theres a sticky at the top of the forum.

@ smithy4mcavan - you should upgrade that aerial, point it properly for brougher mtn co Tyrone [near Enniskillen actually] and you may have the full freeview service complimenting the irish digital channels :)

It already points at brougher mountain afaik, and its about 30 foot high! Problem is there's a large hill behind us and its completely obstructing our reception, that's been our problem for years. (A lot of that old brown cabling needs to be replaced as well, but doing a complete revamp in the next month or two).

At the moment this is what I'm I'm picking up:

    ITV3
    VIRGEN1
    FIVER
    FIVE USA
    QUEST
    CNN
    QVC
    G.O.L.D.
    BID TV
    HOME
    ESPN
    CITV
    TEACHERS TV
    TTEXT HOLIDAYS
    TOPUP ANYTIME 1/2/3
    301
    303
    BBC FOUR
    BBC PARLIMENT
    CBEEBIES
    COMMUNITY

There's quite a few radio stations as well. Reception for most channels isn't great at all, but again poor cabling etc.

With Philips the clue is in the letter at the end of the model number, D is MPEG2, H is MPEG4.

When Brougher increases power on it's digital terrestrial in 2012-you will receive all the channels.

I'm not sure of the extent of the power increase but it's by at least a factor of 20.
That should sort out the hill for you :)
