Hey lads, Ive a problem with the silencer on my P90. It doesnt tighten into place properly, in fact it doesnt tighten much at all, I can just keep spinning it on the 14mm thread...

    Any fixes for this?

    Thanks!!

Sounds like you've striped the threads to me. As its only the silencer maybe an arse load of locktight will hold it in place.

    Thanks for the reply! :)

No, it was always like that.

Any other solutions that dont involve locktight or anything like that?

Maybe a stupid question, but is it a counter clockwise thread ?

It certainly is a CCW thread my friend, what difference does that make?

Fair enough! Do the threads on the gun or silencer look in anyway damaged or worn? As you might have just been unlucky and gotten either a gun or silencer with damaged threads.

And just so we're clear the silencer is screwing down on to the threads but its just not tightening. Is that correct? (Just want to make sure we're on the same page)

Ive 3 different flash hiders and they all tighten perfect, so its not the airsoft itself.

And the silencer tightens on the my M4's, so i'm pretty stumped...

    Hmm, that's very odd...
I remember on my friends P90 there was this ring...thing behind the flash hider. I can't remember if he took it off or left it on when he put his silencer on. Does your P90 have the same ring? If so, have you tried putting the silencer on with the ring on and off?

That ring is there alright, but I dont think it comes off. I only tried it with my hands though, I didnt a pliers to it!

Use PTFE tape(plumbers tape) on the threads to take up the slack of the mock silencer,,,,,,i had the same problem with an M4 and the above method sorted it right out.

Oh well on my friends P90 it just slides right off, no unscrewing or anything so I wouldn't force it.

To be honest I'm out of ideas. So maybe try the PTFE tape like hairyman suggested or the thread lock.

Is there a laymans term for this PTFE tape?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,893 ✭✭✭Dread-Lock

It's also known as teflon tape (or plumbers tape). You'll pick it up in literally ANY hardware shop, even ****e hardware shops will have this stuff ;).

Sorry for being a big spa lads, but what exactly am I gonna do with the tape?

Edit: Just seen that pic there Dread. Im presuming I should do that!! :)

Is the silencer going on too far? theres a little 14mm washer thing on there aswell as the flash hider and you should screw the silencer on a few turns, then tighten the round washer thing up against the silencer. as opposed to screwing the silencer all the way on. :)

Yeah just get the tape and wrap it around the threads a few times.
And wrap the tape in the same direction as the threads that are going to be screwing on to it. So if you have a CCW silencer wrap the tape around the threads on the gun CCW. And vise versa.
The reason for this is if you did it the other way around as you screw the silencer on the tape would start to unravel, bunch up and get wrecked.

I took the pliers to that ring thing, and took it off.

Now, the silencer goes on perfect!

Silly mistake on my part, but thanks for the help guys!! :D:D:D
