Ok so my laptop crashed today and so I booted it in safe mode. Now it is in normal mode( pretty sure) and everything on the screen is zoomed in on the desktop and internet browsers. It is driving me crazy! Tried looking at personalize display settings...no luck. I also realised that I cannot select sleep or hibernate options....Is there something simple I'm missing here?
    Thanks!

Sounds like a Graphics driver. Update via windows update or download manually if you can

What is the screen resolution setting? Did you reboot after being in safe mode?

Safe mode is supposed to look like that but not normal mode.

Type msconfig into the run menu and go the the boot tab in the window that appears.
Check that safe mode isn't ticked.

Go to the Device manager, right click on "My Computer" and puck manage. Select device manager. A list of all hardware bits and bobs is listed here.

If there is a problem there is a yellow dot with a ! in it.
If there is no video driver you should seee that yellow dot.

Thanks for the replies. I just did a system restore to a week before the problem happened and it came back normal after that!
