Just playing around with it in the parents car, biggest surprise was no touchscreen but a rather everything done via remote, which a tedious to say the least. Still, once set up it functions well and the screen is a decent size.

Im curious, how do you update the maps?

SD Card hidden somewhere or...................................................dealer installed?

SD card is right at the front of the unit, bottom right, I think we have 30 days to get a free update, must sort that out.

Tom Tom maps can be a bit funny. Apparently the new M7 from Portlaoise to the other side of Limerick including the tunnel is on the map which really screws with planning and timing.

I e-mailed Tom Tom many times saying it was a waste of money because the mapping does not work to get a reply "we dont make the maps and our terms say the mapping is not 100%". Handy get out clause that.

Also many many minor roads all way off course and you will often see the map suggest you are in a field.

This is on the Clio yeah?

When we were lookign at cars for my mother it as initially the Clio she was looking at. I dont ike the idea of a card remote only with no touchscreen. She settled on a Grand Megane TomTom. Imuch prefer the fixed control panel with te joystick.

Also to be fair. My 4 year old Tom Tom One Version 1 Europe's screen is gone a little wonky. Its touchscreen and I think the backing may have moved slightly because I am clearly pressing one button but the other button on the screen is engaging.

You don't want to be replacing a fixed Tom Tom unit in a car in a few years, not with Renault and their service ESPECIALLY service in Renault Limerick City. Shocking!

Actually TomTom does make the maps. TomTom owns TeleAtlas, the map provider used in all their devices.

The entirety of Tyrellstown was missing off of the Tom Tom maps the last time I looked... Quite a large area to miss..

New areas like that are always missing. I have had Tom Tom since 2006 and have the most to do date maps and my estate is still missing. Fair enough, I live in a small estate in a village but still. 4.5 years!

You quoted me where I said "we don't make maps" only to tell me they don't make maps.

The only gripe I have with it is that you cant have just the radio on and no sat nav, well as far as I have figured it out so far.
