Have you tried resetting it. Hold down the centre button and the top button for a few seconds until you see the apple logo.

Do a restore in itunes. Same thing happened me and a restore sorted it out.

Thanks for your help.

I restored the ipod on itunes and it worked did not relaise you could do it on itunes.

Thanks for all you help will keep it in mind if or when (more like) it happens again
