Clutch Pedal Position Sensor, Volvo s60 T5

I just read the code ECM-9300 on my Volvo which is related to a faulty signal from the clutch pedal position sensor.

The only problem I have had recently that I haven't been able to track down is that I am not getting the usual amount of boost from the turbo. I had it checked out and was told that there was nothing wrong as far as they could tell.

My question is if the CPS is faulty would the ECU read it as if the clutch was constantly pressed and reduce the amount of boost available?

According to one of the techies here clutch pedal sensor has nothing to do with boost pressure---All it does is tell the ECU what position the pedal is in.

Lower boost pressure could be a "boost pressure sensor" located on the inlet manifold but youre not getting a code related to that.

Thanks. My thinking was that the CPS is there to protect against excessive revving when the clutch is pressed and might be putting the car into a type of limp mode since it thinks the clutch is constantly down.

I will replace it anyway, think the part is pretty cheap and get the turbo looked at again.

    Tripod?
Was your car dropped into a garage today?
Just got a call about a CPS on an S60 :)

Anyway if it is yours,it doesnt have a CPS on it--Only models with cruise control have and all the CPS does is control the cruise switching off.

Just thought I`d let you know.

Heh, yep probably my car. This is the code:

Well I'm sure the garage will get a good laugh out of me asking for something that isn't there :P

Found this description on another forum. Not for a Volvo and irrelevant if my car doesn't have one but the theory holds:

"This signal is used to avoid RPM over-oscillation and load change impacts when changing gears and is also used for the cruise control system.

This would explain the driveability issues I had...the ECU thought the clutch was disengaged all the time while i was driving around"

Had another look myself and found the sensor, part number 9472979. Very easy to replace just pops off of a couple of small mounts no tools required.

But your car doesnt have one according to the chassis number assuming its the same car that was in with one of my customers a week ago.

What sensor are you looking at--where does it go?

Tripod--Have 2 of these in stock-42.61+ VAT less a bit of discount to boards users although I still think there isnt one on your car.

Thanks very much for the offer Hellrazer but i have replaced it already. It sits up under the accelerator pedal attached to the side of the clutch master cylinder, bit awkward to get to you have to lie on your back and get your head right up under the pedals but easy to pop out and replace.

    Did it solve your problem?

Nothing that noticeable apart from gear changes seem to be a bit smoother. Had the car on a rolling road after and power looks good so guess I am just too used to it at this stage. Just wanted to make sure I had no codes and a good service before I remapped it.
