Hi! I've been on a health kick recently and have decided that I'm sick of putting all sorts of rubbish into my body and this includes through my skin! I usually use seaweed cleanser/ toner/ exfoliator from the Body Shop and a bodybutter from their range also... My shampoos/ shower gels are the usual things VO5, Aussie, Original Source (apparently natural)..

I would love to find some all natural, organic, animal cruelty free, possibly sourced from fair trade products. (It's a tall order!) I found some websites but they cost a small fortune and I wouldn't get to test them beforehand...

Is the Lush range natural? Any product recommendations?

Lush is 100% natural and organic, animal cruelty free, and a good majority of their stuff is Fair Trade. Here's some links with info! Product recommendations: everything! :P

Really it depends what you're looking for... if you can bear it, go into the shop (I find Henry Street more bearable) and ask for help. They will try to sell you *everything*, but the staff really are very knowledgeable and will be able to recommend products for you skin type/hair type, and lifestyle.

At the minute, I'm using pretty much all Lush beauty stuff - face wash, soap, shampoo, conditioner, face mask, moisturiser, as well as treats like bath bombs and stuff.

Lush is NOT 100% natural. It's actually about 90% natural.

I do adore Lush's products though. I would recommend dream cream as a moisturizer (I don't know if it's intended as one but it's amazing), their shampoo bars are absolutely amazing. Never had such soft, shiny hair than when I use them. Their solid perfumes, facemasks, and the like are lovely too. The only product I'm not a major fan of is their soaps. The rest, I think are brilliant!

Faith in Nature shampoos and conditioners are amazing. A bit pricey though, but worth it. You can get them in a few places as far as I know, think I got them in Nature's Way. I wouldn't have any idea of percentages or anything, but a few things from the Boots Botanics range are good value, and I think they're mainly based on plant extracts, but I could be wrong. Their rosewater toner and gel moisturiser for sensitive skin is really good, it has sweet gale in it which is apparently a natural antibacterial essential oil. When I was using it my skin was completely clear.

This is an interesting article on organic products if you have the time to read it.

Lush is not natural, a small fraction of their products are genuinely organic/100% natural, they are very clever at giving people the impression they're based on all natural ingredients though it's part of why they've been so successful as a business.

Faith in nature is a good enough brand, I love the Swedish crowd Urtekram real cheap and cheerful products that smell lovely and aren't crazily expensive.

If you have money to play around with I'd reccomend burts bees and Dr Hauskha above all others. Dr Hauskha is the very top of the organic cosmetics game their products are incredible but burts bees is very nearly as good too. Dr Hauskha and burts bees both do lovely make up too. I love burts bees shampoo and conditioner and their carrot day cream is divine.

I'd pop into your local health food shop and just ask the staff there for advice. The other alternative which becomes very viable if you're into the natural stuff is making your own stuff. I've been into doing this since I was about 15 when I found a book on it in a second hand book shop. I've made some lovely facial scrubs, face masks, hair treatments, shampoos etc.. its very easy and loads of fun (and way cheaper) try googling it if that interestes you.

Lush has this magazine they give out in the shops, they have ingredients lists for everything and they're colour coded - ingredients that are natural are in green and ingredients that are synthetic are in black (same on the website actually, I just checked) I don't see anything on their website claiming to be 100% natural or anything like that, where did you get that from?

The bath bombs have sodium bicarbonate as their main ingredient, which is a synthetic, but it's basically bread soda so it's edible... I don't see the big deal?

The BNatural skin care range is available in Tesco's, is more than 95% organic, and is cruelty-free.

There are skin, hair and bodycare products and its very inexpensive, products priced from around 5euro.

I don't know if it makes use of Fairtrade ingredients though.

Check out a good health food shops. One I know will not stock some products from a brand they stock because of one ingredient it contains. Some health shops try to sell you anything so try to find a good one.

I'm not sure if these brands are 100% natural or whatever but here are some brands I buy from:

    Burts bees
    Aveda
    Lavera
    Eminence
