Looking to get a good quality bench for my garden, similar to the types seen in beer gardens, this would preferaboly be either free delivery or in the Wicklow / Wexford area.
Can anyone point me in some good directions as I'd really like a good one, not the cheap rubbish you get from Argos that seem to fall to bits after one summer either!

    Thanks

Again not exactly what you are looking for but have seen this set in woodies and seems very sturdy -> http://www.buy4now.ie/woodiesdiy/productdetail.aspx?pid=9127&loc=P&catid=100.1.0

I ended up getting a local person to make one up for 200 euro, it's a 6ft and is usually built for beer gardens and the like, hopefully this'll fit the bill.

    Thanks for responses!

Homebase have marked down all their garden furniture in price, plus its a 10% weekend so you get 10% off the marked prices I picked up a hardwood furniture set. That looks amazing, i have never seen in my life such wonderful garden furniture accessories.

Got this exact one 2 years ago and trust me, it isn't sturdy. It's falling apart without hardly any use.

I'm intrigued by the various claims on this thread. The most durable timber for Irish weather is Pressure treated spruce and no matter the weather conditions you can comfortably expect a life span of 15-20 years and more.

Another aspect to look closely at is of course fixing methods, many DIY products are assembled with mediocre fixings, weak joints (design flaw) which can crumble even before the timbers. Fixings should be rust proofed and substantive to take the stresses which outdoor furniture will endure.

Seasonal treatments are important and many of the 'hardwood' products on sale in Ireland demand annual maintenance in order to withstand Irish weather conditions. Most are unsuitable and must if they are not to become black with mould stain etc be stored indoors over winter months etc.

There no no real bargains or cheap furniture products. Ultimately you get what you pay for. So my advice is first determine how long do you expect the item to last and what degree of maintenance will be required.
