Thats a good win for Brigids. . Shame Paddy Andrews didnt make the Dublin panel this year. Really thought he was a good prospect for us.

Good wins for champions Ballyboden and Crokes tonight. Linesmen on the end of some light hearted banter in first game.

As did Na Fianna. Two O'Carrolls were missing for Crokes but Vaughan very good for them in second half.
McAuley turned in another good game for Ballyboden. Not your traditional midfielder but very effective.
Trinity Gaels had their goal chances in the first half and their full forward did well but overall Ballybodens class won out.

Whats the deal with socks. Thought officials wore black with orange stripes re the Mearnog colours.
Linesmen were wearing red and black last night.

Traditional colours are black and green but because Parnells wear those colours we can't clash. All we have ourselves were red and black.Usually when I have to ref Parnells I wear a vintage blue Dublin referees jersey from way back.

I was the linesman that brought to the referees attention the wrestling match that ensued between Cian O Sullivan and Colm Parkinson.Somehow Parkinson fell into O Sullivans pocket during that exchange too at the Terrace end.

Yes thought Parnells would have done better but Vaughan was in great form last night.
That said MJ Tierney looks a very mobile forward.
Only caught the second half of the first game but there was a few argie bargies going on.
Crowd was a bit disappointing for the two games. btw the old men were gas with the comments.
The instant where lineseman was told to get his flag down was very amusing.

Yep that was me.:D The referee seemed not to notice that I had my flag out for a substitution but I hadn't realised the penalty was the last kick of the game.Found it hard to keep a straight face and remain professional when I was getting some light hearted stick from the crowd.:D

The ground conditions were horribly greasy. My left ankle has a half formed blister and this slowed me down.I'd say the players were in ribbons too,Cian and Parkinson seemed to be slipping everywhere where all the other players could keep their balance.Matters weren't helped for all the officials when the sun came beaming down making it very hard to see a lot of what was going on.There was on an incident where I talked to the referee about some shoving and pushing in midfield.

On Tierney,he had a good game but Crokes were just so good at closing down Parnells that scoring chances were not made easy.Parkinson is a bit of a mouthpiece.:D On another occasion after the wrestling match that you missed in the first half,he turned to me and said were you watching that.I replied "I'm watching you".:)

Yes I thought Vaughan had a good game.He is very good at moving into space. He did miss one or two howlers.A player who I think did not get the credit he deserves was Darren Magee. He cleaned up everything at midfield and Rooney hardly got a sniff of the ball.O Sullivan did a great job on Parkinson too.I thought those were the key battles in that match.Nestor did very well under the high balls too.

St. Maurs had a good win over St. Marys last night.
Fully deserved win for the Rush men. Dublin U/21 keeper Vinny Whelan played well and Ciaran Reddin scored a superb goal for Maurs.

Yes I think the extra time is a good idea in the championship. Hard to believe there wasn't even one draw over the four days of football.

Anyway to update looks as the Dublin SFC is taking a break for a few months which is probably just as well.
Both Kelly and Flynn picked up injuries last week.

I'm probably posting this in the wrong thread. I believe Dublin were playing Westmeath in a challenge match today in Glasnevin. Anyone know how did it go?

No mention of it on any of the sites.

Its annoying that you generally have to wait until the following day to hear of these sort of results unless you know someone who went to the game. Hoganstand never updates anything from around after around 6pm.

Its unusual that Dublin were out two days in a row or was the Mayo game on Thursday?

A few of the dublin players got injured during the Dublin SFC so would curious to see what team Gilroy put out.

Haven't heard any mention of results either but I doubt many would've gone to it with the minors playing this afternoon. They drew with Kildare after extra time in the Leinster quarter final down in Newbridge.

Final score was 1-13 to 0-16

To be honest these challenge games do attract big enough attendances so dont think minor game would have impacted on it that much.
Re Dublin being out two days out in a row lets not forget they have officially a squad of thirty to chose from so same fifteen wouldn't necessarily start.
