does anybody use axis 9`s and if so is there a way they can play cdr`s reliably,no problems playing actual store bought discs but when it comes to cdr they are skipping all over the place,im after building up a collection of mp3 which is absolutely useless to me now as i cant get through 3 or 4 tunes without it happening during a mix,ive tried burning at lower speed which reduces but doesnt eliminate the problem, just wondering is there a way around it or are there any programmes that can burn at lower speeds than windows media player and nero, appreciate any help thanks.

You're possibly burning non-redbook compliant audio. There's guides on how to rectify this w/Nero. Just google.

Burning at 4x should be fine. First thing to check though is your media. Tevions used to skip on me, but Sony CDRs were just fine on the Axis9.

Other possibility is that your laser might be dirty.

Check out the doom9 forums as a last resort.

I had huge problems with CD media. LIDL and ALDI disk's were actually quite good in my experience.
