My Freelander just failed the NCT on emissions specifically Lambda & CO. This the 1.8 K series engine as found in Rovers & MGB's. Am I likely to find a mechanic who can sort this or will I have to go to my €95 per hour main dealer ?.

Any local mechanic should be able to replace the lambda sensor.
Also get a diagnosic check of the cars systems too.
Ring around, save yourself a few euro than going with the main dealer.

High idle: CO 0.61% should be below 0.3%
    Lamda 1.07 should be between 0.97 & 1.03

It passed on low idle & on HC's

    What year is the Freelander?

2000 1.8 Petrol. The landrover forums are suggesting a new air filter, lots of injector cleaner & checking the wiring to the Oxy sensor. Then put it in for a retest before spending more money.
