    Hey Berty!!

To the best of my knowledge its a BONUS!! No set amount. in my career and in other guys i know it ranges from 6.35 to 15 a day!! some need receipts to prove u spend it.

Recently with ENGLISH companies ive seen no lunch allowance, accordding to them they find it horrible that irish pay their field sales a lunch allowance, almost making them get a decent lunch! Always a factor when changing jobs, a decent lunch allowance could be 2 to 3k a year straight into u pocket if u careful!

My most recent lunch allowances have been €250 PCM.

In another position I had an unlimited lunch allowance but was receipted so you didn't actually profit from it.

    Spend €5 get €5.
    Spend €20 get €20.

Even years ago when I started as a Merchandiser only €18,000 P/A I still received a Lunch Allowance which was €6.37 or so.

I have assumed that a Lunch Allowance is a given but I cannot find any information so support it.

I work for a professional services firm - if lunch allowance is part of the negotiated expenses, then we receive €7.50, otherwise we submit receipts directly. Sometimes, there is no lunch allowance at all.

it really depends on the company you work for in my industry(transport) some people get a basic allowance of 6e a day or more, which is tax free one company that i worked for you provided receipt.
as for english companies frowning upon lunch expenses what do you expect most english companies treat there staff like s**t i know having worked for two of them:)

I worked for a company who wanted receipts and one even said "get a receipt for a mars bar and we will pay you the full amount, the tax inspector just needs any old receipt".

Another company did not want any receipts at all. They just paid it as "Lunch Allowance" on my payslip.

The same could be said about some Irish companies, especially my previous employer. I am due to join a British company and Im just glad they have a fully working HR department with controls and procedures, something which was lacking in my previous employer.
