    Lads,

Whats the general opinion of New Holland 7740 or 7840. Thinking of getting something approx 90 to 100 hp, and in browsing the internet, they seem to offer fair value. For example http://www.mccullaghmachinery.com/detail.asp?usedId=1266

What are the good points bad points?

    Appreciate any help on this.

    Thanks

I found the SLE gearboxes a disaster, always had Fords until a brief association with an 8340 turned me off them forever more.

don't now anything about fords but that one in the link is way overpriced, you will get much newer and higher spec 100 hp machine for that money.

the 7740 are a reliable machine but they are making too much money for the age / hours your likely to find (a bit like 110-90's) the one in the linky is on the high end of price range but dont expect a clean one much cheaper.. If I was looking for 100HP (depending on budget) think massey 3090 / 3095 or JD 3350
