I booked a number of one way flights from the uk to here with ryanair.
After confirming my fare, online check in and credit card fee i was given a stg total.
I paid with my credit card. Once the itenary page came up i was advised that the amount i had been charged to my credit card was in my local currency with a very favourable fx rate on ryanairs behalf.
There was no option available to pay by sterling. This did not occur to me last autumn when i made similar bookings, so looked up and found this..
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2010/feb/15/ryanair-costs-currency-conversion

This 'dynamic currency conversion' may only have resulted in me paying only about another €8-10, but im getting sick of these add-ons, and this one i couldnt get out of. I would have thought this was not allowed as you would have to give permission for them to pay in your local currency.
I just hope the other airlines dont follow this sly method of payment.

That article seems to suggest there is an opt-out are you sure you just didn't miss it?

I have not booked any Ryanair flights in a couple of weeks. But last time I did, I am rather certain I was given the option to pay in Sterling or euro. I checked my bank's exchange rate and went with Sterling.
