Finished exams this week and plan on handing out 100s of CVs tomorrow in search of work. Ive no chance of getting a job relating to my qualification unfortunately (media) so Ive applied for a masters which will hopefully start in September.

In the meantime I need a job to pay the bills. I'll do anything (within reason!). Have retail and sales experiences but unfortunately no waitering or bar work.

Would I be wasting my time handing CVs into pubs/bars etc ? Does anyone know if anywhere in particular is hiring ?

Go direct to places, stores, pubs etc...ask to speak to the manager...ask are there any vacancies...let him/her see the whites of your eyes and your character, and you energy and determination...if there is a suitable job coming up which needs filling, which he/she could'nt be bothered spending the time recruting for, you might just be in luck....in these times this is what you gotta do...too much time spent on form filling...soul destroying...distracting....go for it..put on a smile...thats the way to go....good luck..

I lived in the UK during the recession in the late eighties/early 90s when I had just graduated...went to London...nothing at all...not even washing dishes, Job Centres had no vacancies whatsover......when Christmas was coming up I went around all the supermarkets asking for jobs to stack shelves...nothing doing...kept at it...took a while...but you get there in the end...ended up in senior managerial position in the City...bored me to tears...though I was letting my life drain away...after 15 years packed it all in and came back home....the moral of the story? health and happiness in ur wealth...its not easy being broke, but these times will pass...enjoy ur free time when you can, cause when ur back in a 9-5, you;ll be wishing for the old days....very best wishes....
