Played it on Saturday. Its a fantastic course, i'm being a bit picky here, but i thought it would be in better condition. The greens were excellent, just thought around the greens were a bit shabby on certain holes, one or two bunkers the sand was hard. Maybe they are timing everything towards August, the course was exposed to a very tough winter with substantial flooding. Apart from that it was top class, the layout is excellent.

My tips are, believe the yardage, (well its measured in metres) everything is to the front of the green and when the pin is at the back, you could be adding an extra 20 yards at least. I took a club more than normal all day, and needed to.

On the 4th, hit an iron down the left side, it all filters right towards the lake. I hope you get as good a day as we got. Enjoy

Played there the week before last and it's in good shape.
I could give you a load of tips but you'd probably end up just been confused, so the best single tip is to buy a stroke saver and just enjoy the round.

the par 5 11th is going to be a par 4 for the Irish open.....it could be a monster but its a fairly easy par 5 at the moment.

Do you know that for certain Johnny?, because the 7th and the 16th are infinitely easier par 5's than the 11th and are more likely to be par 4's and keep the 11th a par 5 and have a par of 70 for the course.

Slightly off topic but what are the green fees there ?
    Specials for early/late ?

Also any deals to play all three 3 courses there at the moment ?

    thanks

thats what I heard from a member.....you're probably right about them being easier, but thats what I was told

I believe membership is open for Killarney at moment. €2,000 a year for 10 years. Then normal subs each year from then.

I've never played there, is that good value?

11th is indeed a par 4 for the irish open, its going to be a monster hole if the wind blows into them.....

Looking to hear how you like to play some of the holes in Killeen.
There is a how to play page on their website but its pretty poor.
Anyone know of any more decent info out there? I dont think the strokesaver is any better from what i remember??

    Specifically Killeen 2nd, 4th, 8th, 11th, 15th

Depends on which tees you are playing, but here goes,
2nd hole off the blues, driver straight at the grove with a touch of fade, leaves a PW or gap wedge in,

4th hole off the blues, 5w off the tee leaves about an 8 or 9 iron in to the green.

8th hole, driver aimed at the right edge of the left fairway bunkers with a touch of fade, leaves an 8 or 9 iron shot to the green.

15th blue tees, driver straight out at the grove of trees with a touch of fade, again leaves an 8 or 9 iron in to the green.

Jesus good hearted u must be some hitter off the tee to hit 5 wood followed by 8/9 into the 4th
Driver followed by 8/9 maybe and that's for a long hitter this time of yr
8th off the blues would be Dr 5/6 as usually plays into wind
Same for 15 unless u can drive over the corner

4th hole is only a 4/5 iron off white tee. General rule is favour left on 1,2,3,4,5,6,14,15,17 tees
Greens are slow/bumpy but in general place is in good shape.
39 points would be a good score for the open singles
    Enjoy
