Running Pronator

    Hi all,
I have been long middle distance running for about a year now 10k - 20k.. Over the last few months I have been getting pain in my knee and hip, not during my runs however just gradually over the past few months.
I am an overpronator and I have a pair of custom orthotics. These are fine for shoes or trainers but they don't fit properly in running shoes (plus there too hard so I cant run in them anyway).
I usually run in a pair of Nike Luna Glide which are supposed to be good for pronators but I don't think there working for me at all.
Does anyone recommend a pair of running shoes for pronaotors or a pair of sports othotics. I have had to give up road running of late because I find this especially bad for my parts. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I wear Lunar Glides and I am more or less neutral/mild pronator. They really aren't great if you need a lot of support.
I could suggest something like a Pair of Kayanos, but your best bet would be to get a gait analasys in a running shop and get custom fitted with a pair of trainers that will suit your gait.

I got a gait analysis done in Elverys at the end of grafton street. It was a bit mickey mouse to be honest. The guy there didnt seem bothered and just seem to recommend a few random runners to me

Amphibian King in Bray seems to be the most highly recomended place with Runways in parnell street a close second.

I got shin splints and went to Runways on Parnell St, they do the gait analysis and weren't too pushy sales wise, new runners I got there are great, prices were around €90 to €120 for me.

    Go Team!

I'm a big pronator and do run 4-5 times a week. Asics Kayano, expensive, but excellent support. Take out the in-soles to make room for the orthotics.

I'd recommend you visit Amphibian King. I had the same "mickey mouse" experience in Elverys & I found the guy in Runways a little disinterested. Amphibian King have been excellent every time I've gone there.

I would recommend Runways on Parnell Street. I would have been a big fan of Asics Gel Kayano but they recommended Mizuno Wave Inspire (for over pronators).

They cost around €110-€120 and are a lot lighter than the Kayanos. I'm very happy with them.

got a gait done in elverys bout 18 months ago , overpronator and got a pair of kayanos , went to the physio recently and told her i got a gait done in elverys and was recommended the kayanos , she laughed and said they saw me coming , which i think is true cause the same guy sold me a one of those nike pedometers which he said came highly recommended , that one never worked at all and the replacement one was totally inaccurate , anyway i am gettin an independent gait analysis done with a physio in galway thats specialises in gait , ok so my question is this , really really need a new pair of runners ( physio said the ones i had are so wrecked there are like running in flip flops ) should i get a pair now or wait for the gait analysis ? (excuse the question if it seem a bit ridiculous but im a very indecisive person ! :o)

You are wondering should you jump the gun and buy a pair of runners that might cost you over 100 euro, that may be completly wrong for your gait?

If i was paying to have my gait done id personally wait.
