You know the ones you see standing beside motorcyclists or F1 drivers, holding an umbrella to shade the driver or some such ancilliary object?
    Well, my question is:
    Is that a living?

One of my childhood friends sister does it. She said on average she clears a thousand euro a week. I don't know if that is typical or not but as she said herself "if people are willing to pay me a thousand euro a week to stand there in shorts and a t-shirt I'm hardly going to turn it down". Fukk, I'd do it no problem, if I wasn't male and hideously ugly that is.

Living is usually repeats of Oprah.

If you've got it, flaunt! I know id do it if i could, and a fair few of my friends would to

Well, if they get paid to stand around a F1 car then they're probably making a better living than a lot of us around here. :(

Though I'd imagine you'd have to deal with all those oogling assholes "So, do you come with the car? ahuh-huh!"

Yes it is, and quite a good one as it happens. Some of the F1 pitgirls are students, they can earn as much at a F1 weekend as they would in a couple of months doing part time waitressing/bar work etc. My OH and some of her cousins have done that kind of work.

If somebody offered me a lot of money to stand around beside famous woman doing fuck all, I'd make a sacrificial pyre of my degree, masters, and difficult modern novels and be on the next plane.

Heh, the contrast between this and a similar Ladies' Lounge thread last year... :D

I was involved in a work project with a girl who did all that stuff - Pirelli modelling and the likes. I was warned beforehand that she was an "up herself bitch" etc. I got on very well with her - thought she was lovely, very down-to-earth. She stayed in touch too - sent me an invite to some swanky thingie she was involved in. Couldn't go, but thought it was a nice gesture.

yeah it is and it dosen't come cheap. A friend of mine is in that line of work and spends endless hours at the gym, beauty salon and getting botox.

The inscription would have to be in Braille, or he won't know what it's for.

Some people just see someone sexier than them and confident about it and automatically think 'self centred bitch'. Doesn't happen so much with guys though. I know some hot girls who are a generally a lot sounder than the bitter fat messes that think they're stuck up. It's probably why you often notice that groups of girls tend to be either good looking as a group or not so fortunate as a group. There are obviously exceptions but I do notice it a lot.

That was nothing about being down-to-earth. She probably just wanted some sexy-time with you.
