Driving with fog lights on.

Why are so many people driving with their fog lights on in daylight?
Is it because they want to show everyone they have a higher spec car and paid more VRT to import it or something?
I can understand people driving at night or when it's foggy with them on, but in daylight?
It's not just the boy racers in modified or Japanese imports doing it either, people driving 4x4's like BMW X5's and Mercedes ML's are doing it.
Maybe it's attention seeking; look at me.

Fog lights don't affect VRT calculation or automatically signal a higher spec vehicle.
Don't know why people would have them on during the day, headwreck at night also. They're called fog lights, I would have thought the clue for their use was in the name!

This drives me mad. Broad daylight with the sun rays streaming down and lights on. Why??

afaik some new cars have side lights which are on automatically as a safety feature.

I think your just jealous, you should invest in a good fog horn for your car to up the ante

I always drive with my headlights (not fog lights!) on - even during the day. It's a visibility thing, and since I grew up very close to Denmark, where headlights are compulsory at all times, it's a force of habit for me. And since that does not harm anyone, I don't see anything wrong with it.

But then again, here you have people who even in thick fog would drive without any lights, or just their parking lights, or fog lights in bright sunshine...And I won't mention the amount of people driving with broken lights...

I thought learning about your car's features and the light switches was compulsory, no?

Based on observation of on-road behaviour, I think features (indicators, lights, etc) are optional fittings on most cars in Ireland. Or maybe they just have a random mode.
