    Hi guys,

Gonna give the motor taxation office a call about this but just wondering if i could get a heads up before i do.

I'm not due my nct for around another 6 weeks but my tax has been out for a little while now...so my questions are:

    1. Can i renew my tax now even without nct?
    2. Will i have to pay any arrears on motor tax even if the car was parked up for the last while?

I'll be trying to get nct bumped forward anyway but i need to get a few bits and pieces sorted on the car - which is gonna cost €€€s - so if i've to cover back-tax as well i'd prob be better leaving her parked up until i've a little more cash...but if i don't have to pay any back tax then i can prob get her in good enough shape to pass nct (in which case i can ask them for an earlier slot or cancellation slot or something)

Any thoughts? (i'm aware there's a catch 22 somewhere in all that but i'm hoping i can sort it)

    Thanks
    DrF

1: Yes, they no longer check
2: You can declare the car off the road for the time it was, you need to get a form stamped by the Guards for this. You won't have to pay tax for any full months it was off the road.
