Moving home - benefits

Evening all.

I am planning to move home this summer from England due to (unfortunately) splitting from my partner and feeling the need to be near my family.
We have a house together and have been struggling financially (seriously contributed to our problems), due to both of us being laid off and finding it difficult to secure long term employment. We plan to keep the house as the rental income will cover the Mortgage and there is little equity in the house at the present market rate (under £10,000).
I have scoured the last couple of months post on here, but cannot find a similar post and need to know what benefits I would be entitled to in this instance.
I would be leaving a part-time post here to come home and presume I would get nothing for 9 weeks.
Can anyone fill me in on the benefits I would be entitled to, bearing in mind that I shall have a house (albeit with little equity) let out in England.
I have spent all my working life in England (20 odd years) and have been drawing benefits in England the last couple of years after redundancy, while working part-time.

I've picked up a few things I didn't know, but was looking for specific advice on the effect that owning a house in another country would have on your claim (let's hope it's not needed and I can secure a job).
I claimed once before when I came home for a time in the late 90's, but only for about two months, because I got pissed off not working and returned to England. Will they still have me on the system?

They will still have you on the system. It won't help in convincing them that this time you will become a habitual resident and you will have to do that before you could qualify for many benefits.You have, of course, an absolute right to live here but to claim certain benefits is different. Owning a home in UK still will also count against the idea that you fully intend habitual residency here. And if you did manage to prove it, I think they will means test you against the house, both value and rent. Means testing does not take outgoings into account and any exemption for the value of your home, whether it be in UK or here, will not count because for it to meet the definition of 'home' you have to be living in it. You should check all this in advance of coming here. Get a relative here to ask at Social Welfare or have them contact Citizens Information.
