UPC Cable

    Hi all,

Recently I was working in the garden of our house and noticed that a cable runs over the roof and along our garden connecting the estate behind us. The problem with the cable is it sags quite a bit and two of our trees grow into it. This makes it difficult to cut the branches of the trees as they become cought in the cables. I'm also worried that it might be dangerous as I don't know if these cables are electrified and am as such aprhensive to go near them when trimming the trees.

The cable is from UPC and has been there since before we bought the house. Having paid huge sums of money for the property and a monthly subscription to UPC for what I consider to be a pretty poor service, can I insist that they move the cable or give me a discount?

I don't really think I have anything to lose as I've been considering dumping UPC anyway and certainly don't see why I should be giving them a free ride and inconveniancing myself for UPC's benifit. So really seeing as I'm paying the mortage and the cable bill should I get some sort of discount on cable or can I make them remove it?

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

Ring UPC and ask for someone to come out and check things out.

A friend of mine's mothers house has something belonging to upc in their garden (UPC has to access something in their garden which connects the whole road). They rang them up and were getting everything for free broadband included! I would definetly ring them up. If it's on your property & affecting your garden etc..which it is, they should compensate you in some way..ie free tv bb! Or else tell them you dont want it there & the way it's affecting/interfering with your garden etc..I hope it's of some help & you get it sorted soon! Best of luck!:)

hi there i have a similar issue, i only recently noticed the upc cable had been moved from the back of my house to the side of it, we didnt give permisson although my wife allowed access and as she had just had a baby wasnt to concerned with what they were doing.

we had free cable for years but when they updated they cut us off apparently we werent on the system and there engineer cut us off, now im thinking why should i allow this cable at all.

ps sorry for threading your thread.

here's a suggestion, read the many other threads based on this topic and why must every one who has a UPC cable on their property have to look for a freebie?
