Disability Allowance and Work

Hi was wondering if someone could advise me.... I have a serious health problem and have had an operation some years back but still have problems with my spine and movement in my fingers. I work about 8hrs a week in a very light job with flexible hours...I cannot take up heavier work or do the work I am qualified for due to pain and lack of finger co-ordination.
I receive One parent allowance and the little job keeps us going and helps me get out of the house. Since I cannot take up employment in my field I was advised to apply for Disability Allowance.
My worry is I will be refused on the grounds that I work a few hours ..my GP has filled in the medical part of the form and he states I have longterm health problems.
Will I have to quit the job? When I google it all it says is Rehabilitative Employment.....what is that and how do I prove it?
    If I don't work I would crack up...HELP!!:(
