Scene tax, something similar as what happened with the RWD ones a few years back, they are popular with the young lads, you often see them with huge RWD offset superlite wheels on.

I think you mean RWD, because theres plenty of RHD options available :D

The starlets they're talking about aren't RWD, they're just old.... but I'd still disagree with your "fair play" comment. The RWD ones shouldnt be priced as they are, it's just a supply and demand thing or scene tax as mentioned above. It's the same with AE86's, those things are ridiculously overpriced for what they are!!

Because there are lots of Toyota fanboys out there? Any realistic price by definition is the equilibrium between supply and demand. There are only a few of those old Starlets left, so supply is pretty low. And there are many Toyota fanboys around in this country aspiring to own one of these mighty motors. Demand is high, supply is low so the price is high!

Exactly, same with the likes of MK2 Escorts, particularly 4 door ones. Ok a good RS or Sport isnt a bad car,but some of the scrap out there is way over priced IMO.

I do noitice I see lots of early 90`s starlets still driving around as every day cars, so there must be somthing good about them if they are still holding up well. Dont see a lot of 80`s ones mind you.

I reckon the Mk2 Golf is rapidly going in this direction too. When they become a bit less common, expect crazy prices for cars that are only fit for the crusher.

    whats scene tax?????????

a VAG thing usually.... asking way over the odds for a car because it's popular in a 'scene'. Any MK2 VW Golf a few years ago, no matter the condition, had extortionate price tags on them for the cars they were. "scene tax" is just the name it was given on a lot of the UK forums like Edition38 etc... AE86 Corrolla's, MK2 Golf's, RWD Starlets, they were all expensive because it was 'cool' to have one.
