Do you find your most sincere and genuine questions can't be answered on forums?

I find this a lot. When I go to ask something that I am baffled about, and I ask, people don't reply. You ask a normal question and it gets answered, fair enough. But you ask something that you really want to know and have wondered for a long time and if people reply at all, they reply ignorantly/pedantically? Why can't people just reply with a basic answer or even a "I don't know but I do know that such and such site might help you?. These (specialised) forums seem to be full of "buffs" but when you ask a question, no one knows, or worse, they answer in the most ignorant way and don't answer your question in any way or form, often being pedantic and making you feel small for asking your (valid) question without actually answering it?
